Program Description: In the business world, it is critical that we meet and network with other people in order to gain valuable contacts and information. First impressions are important. This program helps people feel at ease meeting strangers and engaging in productive conversations.

Objectives: At the conclusion of this program, the audience members will be able to . . .

  1. Acknowledge the importance of meeting new acquaintances in business and social settings.
  2. Identify upcoming events where they will benefit from meeting new acquaintances.
  3. Realize the personal thoughts that were inhibiting them from being more assertive when meeting new acquaintances.
  4. Recognize the importance that attendance at business and social functions plays on their careers.
  5. Realize a reduced level of anxiety about meeting new acquaintances at business and social functions.
  6. Fill out and display a nametag.
  7. Shake hands properly with a new acquaintance.
  8. Show proper techniques to greet a new acquaintance.
  9. Demonstrate proper techniques to begin, engage and end a conversation with a new acquaintance.
  10. Identify ways to assist in remembering people's names.
  11. Smoothly react when they cannot remember a person's name.
