Restoring Vitality in Our Lives
When things happen in our lives that bring us down or make us sick, we struggle to recover. Sometimes recovery is not complete. We get stuck in our condition, unable to determine a cause or a cure. Medical diagnosis is not easy and tests often reveal no evidence. Cures are sometimes not available when we need them.
Our condition may improve ever so slowly over time. We get depressed and are afraid. We may lose some of our abilities, energy, and drive to go on. We see life with less value, little promise, and few opportunities. We can’t do what we used to do. We only need to learn that we can build with what we have, and can strive to regain what we have lost.
Sometimes we spend all of our energy and thoughts on the negatives, focusing on our misfortune rather than looking ahead to a bright future. We see our lives as desperate, rather than utilizing what resources we have and making the most of them.
Things change over time. Sometimes it is hard to accept change. If limitations keep us from doing what we used to do, we need to seek alternative activities and modify our work.
Surround yourself with supportive friends and family that are fun to be around. Offset solitude with companionship. As people reach out to help you, let them. Don’t resist assistance from others, and maintain your friendships by calling those trusted friends who know you best.
Get out of the house and go outdoors. Let the air and sunshine in. Ride with the top down and the windows open. Unlock your mind so you can see more possibilities. Air out those negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones. Turn on your favorite music and transport yourself to a place and time of happiness and peace.
Plan a course of action to continue to seek medical and professional attention to find solutions to your problems. Resolve to return home with a new spirit and dedication. Empower yourself to make the changes in your life that need to be made.
Laugh more and do things you used to do that brought you joy. Do things you did in your younger days to recapture the feeling of youth. Balance your moodiness with joy. Look ahead to the days when good health will be restored. Live with a hopeful vision.
Narrow-minded thinking will only bring you down. Positive thoughts help change your mood. We can control our attitudes about adversity in our lives.
